The heat is on – the World Technology Leader Award is entering a new round. May 1 marked the official start of this year’s application process for the international innovation award.
This year marks the fourth time that the award has been presented to companies from all over the world that have made a special contribution to global progress, but also to the goal of sustainability and to places of innovation. With two new categories, the WTLA now also honors the important efforts and successes of companies for which technological innovation and sustainable development are not contradictory. On the contrary, these two goals are now inseparable for both established and freshly founded companies.
For this reason, two new award categories will be presented for the first time this year as part of the public voting: In addition to the already internationally established World Technology Leader Award, these are the World Green Technology Leader and the World Technology and Innovation Hub. While the World Green Technology Leader recognizes sustainable, environmentally friendly and resource-efficient products and services, the World Technology and Innovation Hub honors outstanding locations for science and education as well as research and development. This year, innovative companies of all sizes and industries are again invited to apply for WTLA 2023 and present their breakthrough developments to the nominating committee and more than one million decision-makers from around the world.
“We are very excited about this year’s field of participants,” says Michael Oelmann, whose nominating committee is made up of winners from previous years, business experts and scientists from around the world. “It is not only the quality of the applications – from the software industry to renewable energies to environmentally friendly materials, from international corporations to start-ups – that is impressive,” says Michael Oelmann. The internationality of the participating companies, which are applying with their innovative solutions from all parts of the world – whether from Asia, Australia, the USA, Canada or Colombia, Europe or even the Arab states and Africa – are also extremely impressive and underline the relevance of the award for the global innovation economy.
The official application period does not end until October, followed by public voting in November. “However,” says Harald Henkel of the award team, “it makes sense to apply as early as possible. Because the earlier a company is listed as a participant by the nomination committee, the greater the media attention as well as the external impact it will have.” Do you also want to be part of the illustrious round of prominent award winners such as BioNTech, ASML, Apple and Nvidia? Then apply right here. We are looking forward your application!
